Feasts & Faith: Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread [Part 4]
Pesach (Passover) and Chag Hamatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread)
- Passover (Pesach) - This feast commemorated the Israelites' deliverance from slavery in Egypt. It is foundational for the Jewish identity and Christians believe that Jesus' death and resurrection fulfilled the Passover feast, as Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for sin, just as the Passover lamb was a sacrifice for sin in ancient times.
- Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMatzot) - This feast was celebrated immediately after Passover and lasted for seven days. During this time, the Israelites were commanded to eat unleavened bread to symbolize their haste in leaving Egypt and the purity they were to maintain. Christians believe that the feast of Unleavened Bread represents the sinless life of Jesus and his perfect sacrifice. Listen to learn about these two important holidays and how they connect to our faith.
